Ali Hasanbeigi
Ali Hasanbeigi is a Postdoctoral fellow in the China Energy Group of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Dr. Hasanbeigi did his Ph.D. on energy technology working specifically on energy efficiency in industry. In his Ph.D. research he assessed the energy efficiency improvement opportunities in the Thai cement industry. Besides, he investigated the barriers to energy efficiency and decision-making behavior in Thai industry. He received his bachelor and master degree in textile technology engineering. While studying, he also worked on various projects on energy efficiency in textile industry, technology transfer, technology needs assessment, economic analysis for renewable energy technologies, etc. Dr. Hasanbeigi, recently, worked with LBNL on the World Bank funded project on energy efficiency improvement opportunities in the cement industry in Shandong Province, China.
Dr. Hasanbeigi’s research on industrial energy-efficiency technologies, policies, and economics is applied to specific industrial sectors in China, including the cement, iron and steel, and textile sectors. He is also working on the analysis of various energy policies and programs that can be used to increase the use of energy-efficient technologies and practices in industrial sector. Dr. Hasanbeigi is also working on the development of an energy management guidebook for industry. Besides, he will be working on the development of energy efficiency guidebook for specific industrial sectors like textile industry. In his free time, he likes to go hiking or play soccer or volleyball.
