Yining Qin

Visiting Scientist
Areas of Specialization:
Modeling and scenario forecasting

Dr. Qin is from China electric power field. He researches low carbon energy, renewable electric power, coal chemical Industry feasibility and investment for a few years. He also researches distributed energy development. As a postdoctoral in Tsinghua University in China, he also had focused on the modeling of energy resource, green transportation, climate change, GHG reducing cost and investment research.

Recent projects in LBL have included modeling for low carbon energy optimization development strategy, carbon embodiment of traded goods and energy decomposition for China. Dr. Qin is interested in methodologies for modeling energy system such as life cycle analysis of energy and emission reduction cost and investment optimization. He also works on Energy system with human behavioral studies and models the simulation program to research the inherent law for the smart energy system by Agent Base Method.

Prior to LBL, Dr. Qin has been a senior power plant efficiency engineer and project manager in a electric power group for more than 12 years with deep experience in power production, efficiency improvement, capital investment and equipment management. He received the PhD of Automatic Control in China Dalian University of Technology. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, table tennis playing and computer programming.
