A delegation from China’s largest and most diverse research institution in building industry, China Academy of Building Research (CABR), visited Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory on October 13.
Bo Song, head of the delegation and also head of the Building Performance Research Center of CABR Energy and Environment Institute, first introduced the institute’s work in building energy efficiency of public institution in China. The institute is the main developer in building codes and standards in China, because of its affiliation to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of China’s State Council, as well as the main institute that tests and certifies building materials and equipment in the country.
As a host to the delegation, the China Energy Group organized presentations that cover U.S. energy service company industry and market trends, energy performance contracts in China and the U.S. as well as the Group’s research work in building energy efficiency. The delegation expressed their strong interest to collaborate with the lab on the government building energy efficiency. They were also given a tour in the Facility for Low Energy Experiments in Buildings (FLEXLAB®), the window testing facility as well as the cool roof testing labs.
