In September Dr. Nan Zhou, group leader of the China Energy Group at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, was appointed to the Advisory Board of the APEC Sustainable Energy Center for a three year term. The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is a forum for its 21 Pacific Rim member countries, whose mission is to promote free trade throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Dr. Zhou is one of just two U.S. members on the Advisory Board.
Established in 2014, the APEC Sustainable Energy Center’s mission is to promote sustainable economic development amongst its Pacific Rim members, with a special focus on sustainable energy. By promoting the exchange of energy policy innovation, and scientific and technological research and development, the center seeks to optimize the energy systems in the Asia-Pacific region, and achieve the dual goals of healthy economic development and environmental protection in the Asia-Pacific region.
