Huawen Xiong

Deputy Director, Energy Research Institute

Huawen Xiong was a visiting Professor with the China Energy Group from 2013-2014. During his stay Professor Xiong did a cooperation study with LBNL on the project of Reinventing Fire industrial section.

Huawen Xiong is the deputy director of the Energy Efficiency Center of the Energy Research Institute (ERI) under China’s National Development and Reform Commission. He received a master's degree in Environment Engineering from Tsinghua University, and a bachelor's degree in Thermal Engineering from University of Science and Technology Beijing. Mr. Xiong joined ERI in 2001 and has focused his research on energy efficiency strategies planning, especially policies, technical and economic evaluation for the industry sector. Mr. Xiong participated in the development of an energy conservation plan for China’s 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) as well as many other energy-efficiency policies. He also works with international agencies such as World Bank, IFC, UNIDO, and AFD in evaluation of energy efficiency projects. Area of Specialization: Strategy, planning and policies study on energy conservation and especially for energy efficiency analysis towards industrial sectors
