Lijian Zhao is the Program Director, Environmental Management Program, The Energy Foundation Beijing Office Beijing, China. Mr. Zhao was a visiting management professional while at the China Energy Group in 2015. During his stay he worked in collaboration with LBNL’s China Energy Group, to work on various policy tools that help China’s cities and key industrial sectors to achieve sustainable development. Mr. Zhao’s focus was on adding environmental elements to existing tools.
Mr. Lijian Zhao is Program Director for the China Environmental Management Program (CEMP) at the Energy Foundation's China office. He manages grants to support China in improving the environmental regulatory system, developing policy solutions to achieve clean air and clean water, and at the same time mitigates climate change. Prior to joining the Energy Foundation, Mr. Zhao was Program Officer for Environment at the Asia Foundation. He also served as a Consultant/Auditor in an environmental consulting firm at SINOSPHERE Corp. and worked for Global Village of Beijing, an environmental NGO in China.
Mr. Zhao holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management from the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE), Lund University in Sweden and Central European University (CEU) in Hungary, with support from the European Commission Erasmus Mundus scholarship. He is a LEAD (Leadership for Environment and Development) Fellow and holds a Bachelor of Philosophy from Peking University.
