China Energy Group members attended the 5th Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum in Shenzhen, China, September 7-8, 2017. This annual two-day forum is organized by Shenzhen Institute of Building Research, together with the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, European Environmental Foundation, Shenzhen Green & Low-carbon Development Foundation, and Shenzhen Green Building Association. Participants from more than 30 countries attended this year's forum.
On September 8th, CEG director Dr. Nan Zhou gave a keynote speech at a sub low-carbon city forum, together with Director Liang Junqiang from Ministry of Housing, Urban and Rural Development, Professor Pan Jiahua from China Academy of Social Science, Dr. Yang Xiu from National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, and other experts. Director Zhou's talk emphasized the impacts of climate change on urban energy systems, and the current and future perspective of integrating multiple strategies to make city infrastructure more efficient, low carbon, and resilient. A panel discussion followed the presentation, with participation by the keynote speakers, research institutes, government representatives, and foundations from China, US, Europe and other developing countries.
